This year will mark the second annual US Industry Safety Week, running from May 4 to May 10th. Safety Week was established jointly by the Construction Industry Safety Group and the Incident and Injury Free CEO Forum, for the purpose of raising awareness of safety in construction industry. According to statistics maintained by those entities, every year more than 80,000 workers suffer an injury on construction job sites across the U.S.
Unfortunately, because of the nature of construction work, many construction accidents can result in significant injuries, ranging from broken bones, herniated discs in the neck and back, traumatic brain injuries, paralysis, and even death. An accident that arose due to unsafe work practices, or a failure to provide workers with necessary safety equipment, can sometimes result in absolute liability under New York’s so-called “Scaffolding Law.”
If you have sustained an injury from any type of construction accident, you may be entitled to make a claim against the property owner, general contractor, or other involved parties. The attorneys at Maynard, O’Connor can assist you through the process, and help to ensure that you receive the justice and compensation you deserve, so that you can return to work and continue to support your family.
