Rob Rausch Speaks at LeMoyne College “Law Day”

On April 14th, Attorney Rob Rausch and several other LeMoyne College graduates participated in LeMoyne’s “Law Day.”  The group met with juniors and seniors interested in law school, and discussed how to prepare for law school during college, as well as advice for applying to law schools, and tips for successful law school experience.

The attorneys, representing a wide variety of different practice areas, met with students one-on-one and also participated in a lively panel discussion about the practice of law. Rob discussed personal injury litigation, the life of a trial attorney, and how actual practice is very different from fictional practice depicted in books and TV.

Rob graduated from LeMoyne in 1991 and from Albany Law School in 1994. As a personal injury attorney at Maynard, O’Connor, Smith & Catalinotto, Rob represents clients in a wide variety of personal injury matters including slip, trip and fall accidents, car accidents and construction accidents.

Rob Rausch Speaks on “How a Claim Becomes a Trial”

On April 13th, Attorney Rob Rausch presented to the Business Builders Alliance on the “life of a claim.” Rob explained the various phases of personal injury and commercial litigation, and discussed how an incident can progress from an initial claim, to a Summons and Complaint, through the “discovery” stage, and eventually to trial, including the various points at which claims are settled.  He emphasized that only a small portion of claims actually go to trial, and that the vast majority of cases are resolved at an early point in time, often without the need for formal litigation.

Business Builders Alliance was founded in 2002 and is a networking and professional development group focused on developing business opportunities and relationships. Members include a wide variety of small business owners and entrepreneurs in the Capital Region.  Rob has been a member of the organization for ten years.

Concetta Lomanto Lectures On Claims for Serious Injuries

On September 9, 2014, Concetta Lomanto presented a lecture to the Northeastern New York Chapter of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses, at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady, New York, and addressed the complexity of serious injury cases, and her experience in successfully representing accident victims who have been seriously injured as a result of the negligence of another. Concetta discussed the likelihood that a serious injury can result in a permanently disability, the need for rehabilitation, and long-term recovery. She also discussed the categories of serious injury, as well as how full compensation for lost wages, medical bills, and disability are evaluated.

Many of the nurses in attendance provide care to patients who have suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and appreciated Concetta’s experience in the field of personal injury litigation, and her advice for successfully obtaining full compensation for victims of serious and catastrophic injuries.

Attorney Concetta Lomanto Speaks at the End of the Year Retreat for the Bethlehem Central Lab School

1922428_688701981167503_5755971067273320334_nConcetta Lomanto was honored to be a speaker at the annual End of the Year Retreat for the Bethlehem Central Lab School held at Silver Bay in Lake George.  The Retreat hosted The Lab School student body and community, addressing the art of jury selection.  The students played the role of jurors in a personal injury case, during which questions were posed by Attorney Lomanto.  “They were the most interactive, inquisitive jurors that I have ever encountered in my 28 years of practice,” noted Lomanto.  The seminar at Silver Bay allows students to collaborate, acquire, and apply knowledge in a real-world setting that focused on experiential learning.  “It was completely invigorating and fun to teach four classes about such an important part of our judicial system,” said Attorney Concetta Lomanto.

Robert Rausch Speaks at Albany Law School Graduation

Albany Law School held its 163rd commencement on May 16, 2014 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, with approximately 200 students receiving their legal degree.  The keynote speech was provided by Tom Vilsack ’75, the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and a former two-term governor of Iowa.  Honorary degrees were awarded to Hon. Sheila Abdus-Salaam and the Hon. Jenny Rivera, associate judges on the New York State Court of Appeals, and Dean Penelope Andrews provided David Schraver, the president of the New York State Bar Association, with the Dean’s Medal.

In addition, Rob Rausch, the President of the National Alumni Association, made brief comments welcoming the Class of 2014 as Albany Law School’s newest alumni.  Rob encouraged the graduates to participate in law school activities and to strive to always maintain a good reputation in the legal community.

Rob Rausch recently presented a lecture on “Negotiating and Litigating Damages” at a Continuing Legal Education seminar sponsored by the National Business Institute. Rob addressed such issues as effectively handling damage claims, use of surveillance, discovery of Facebook and social media, vocational rehabilitation evaluations, effective use of experts, and sources for valuing injuries, among other topics.

Rob Rausch recently presented a lecture at Albany Law School, in conjunction with the school’s program to provide free Continuing Legal Education credit to recent graduates. Rob presented on the topics of “The Purpose, Procedure, and Strategy of Discovery”, and “Guidelines and Recommendations for Depositions”, and discussed procedures and advice for successfully handling for personal injury litigation. Rob is a graduate of Albany Law School and is currently President-elect of the National Alumni Association.
